Watch A Year of Architecture in a Day talks live from The Met

Tune in to watch today’s architecture symposium hosted by New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, which will include presentations from OMA, MAD, Forensic Architecture and more.

The livestream is due to start at 10:30am Eastern Standard Time (EST).

The In Our Time: A Year of Architecture in a Day event – spotlighting the most exciting and innovative projects from the past 12 months – will be streamed live from the Fifth Avenue museum’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium, via The Met’s Facebook page.

The symposium will be spilt into three sessions, as outlined on The Met website. The first will begin at 10:30am EST, when The Met’s Beatrice Galilee – who organised the programme – will give an introduction to the day.

Following her, Kunlé Adeyemi of NLÉ, Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, Frida Escobedo, Liam Young, Chasper Schmidlin and Lukas Voellmy, Minsuk Cho of Mass Studies will all present their work.

Also in the 2:45pm session, Carla Juaçaba will speak about her Vatican Chapel at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale

After a break, Galilee will moderate a conversation with architect Elizabeth Diller and composer David Lang about their Mile Long Opera, which took place along Manhattan’s High Line park.

A second group of speakers will then talk about their 2018 projects, including Jing Liu of SO-IL, Michael Rakowitz, Carla Juaçaba, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Ellen van Loon of OMA, and Freddy Mamani.

Another short break will precede a panel discussion about design and architecture in the age of artificial intelligence. Speakers will include artist and author James Bridle, photographer Vincent Fournier and AI Now Institute co-director Kate Crawford, with moderator Ute Meta Bauer, director of the Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore.

To round off the symposium, Eyal Weizman will give a keynote presentation about his research group Forensic Architecture, and the work they do to investigate cases of state violence and violations of human rights around the world. The programme concludes at 6:30pm EST, after which all the livestreams will be available to watch again from this post.
