The project develops from a main piece, a large fire that organizes the space. In line with the clay tiles and bricks that were found on the original facade, it was decided to continue with the same line of rustic materials, generating textures and interlocks that capture the attention of pedestrians. A special cladding was designed for the facade by cutting colonial tiles, resulting in six pieces of different sections that formed the placement modules.

Karry’s Peral Restaurant / ZHZ studio

“Kai Zhen(Karry’s Peral Restaurant is located in Sanlitun, one of Beijing’s busiest commercial districts, and our renovation project is in an annex building of the #024 commercial complex. The project is located across from the Sanlitun Embassy District, surrounded by trees on both sides of the road, and because of the hustle and bustle of the street, it creates a quiet dining experience in the middle of it all. We have explored deeply the community and commercial culture of the trendy and bustling Sanlitun neighborhood, and we have created a simple and introverted retail space that allows people to pause by reversing the traditional commercial design and simplifying the complexity into simplicity. We want people to walk on the street, occasionally see the faint warm light, smell the aroma of food, and feel the space of the people and places – this is the hustle and bustle of a prosperous city.

The bamboo structure is located at the Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen hotel, created to serve one of its restaurants, with a view of a body of water and other amenities of the place, taking inspiration from the endemic vegetation of the region and its organic geometry, the cover is based on the structural principles of the leaves, which consist of a flat zone or lamina and a petiole that provides central support and joins it to the stem. In this way, a biomimetic approach is implemented that gives rise to a unique, lightweight, and flexible architecture that envelops the user and elegantly exposes the behavior of its elements.

The site is a residential area near Lake Town, Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture. It is located in a place where rice fields remain as a remnant of the past—a new construction plan for a udon restaurant in such a location. The adjacent land is a rice field, and the construction site was originally a rice field. First, the design began to take advantage of the tranquil environment of the rice fields. The layout and floor plan of the building was designed to match the rectangular shape of the adjacent rice field, making the building elongated with a short side of 4,550 mm and a long side of 27 m.

Yazawa Hanoi -The Scenery with Iron – The fascination of yakiniku (Japanese style BBQ) is to enjoy the way raw meat changes its state as it is cooked on the griddle. Yazawa Yakiniku Restaurant puts great effort into its ingredients and meat grilling equipment, especially its griddle and grill, which directly leads to the quality of its food. In considering the design for their new restaurant in Hanoi, iron as a material for multiple uses was focused on creating an original place that encompasses everything from the landscape of the food to the architectural space. The iron itself and the things that are being changed by the iron are contrasted and fused. A landscape scene expressed by cast iron, Bengala (iron oxide pigment), iron bars, and plates, as well as spaces colored by iron, was created to let things, people, and spaces interact with each other. The site is a typical French villa in Hanoi that has been renovated and extended repeatedly. Renovating the building by giving it the power of iron in various forms creates a contrast between old and new.

Throughout human history, explorers, sailors, and seafarers have told tall stories of the fabulous sea creatures found in the depths of the ocean – from the leviathan that swallowed Jonah, the giant squid that grappled with the Nautilus to Moby Dick seeking revenge on the Pequod and its crew; our maritime literature, nautical maps, and collective psyche are riddled with sea monsters.
