The building concept responds to the needs and opportunities offered by the old neighborhood La Carolina in Cuernavaca’s downtown heart. A traditional neighborhood embedded in Cuernavaca sinuous topography with a high urban density and just a few places for recreation. The important research done by the Ministry of Culture of the state found that in that neighborhood and its surroundings there were over 25 orchestras with more than 25 members each, various soccer teams, many children and young people interested in silk-screen printing and photography as well the need for a common space where culture, recreation and sport would be a source of energy for their daily life, thus correcting social disruption among the neighborhoods as part of the historic site.

Jiufeng Village is located on the North-Peak Mountain (BeiFeng) of Fuzhou, surrounded by picturesque hills and streams, known as “the rear garden” of this city. It is a hot spot for Fuzhou people to spend their weekend in nature. However, the space for tourists is limited in Jiufeng Village because of its mountainous terrain. The primary problem should be solved by our design is how to use the limited space to enhance the reception capacity on weekends, in the mean time, provide an effective public space for locals on weekdays.

After the Mexican Revolution, hard-to-work land in Nuevo León, especially on the southern part of the state, is given to ejido communities while land in the centre and the northern part is kept by the state and given to private owners. Since then there has been a disconnect between the state’s capital and ejido. After the election of a governor from the south efforts to bring the infrastructure and socially inclusive programs that will look after these communities have started. One of these efforts is the creation of the Regional Centre at Galeana which will work as a community space for courses and workshops as well as gathering space for the region.

Lungiarü is a quaint mountain village perched under the scenic Puez plateau in the Italian Dolomites. The native ladino speaking village adopted a sustainable tourism-growth model over the years and is now rewarded with many visitors to its historic center and barns from both nearby valleys and afar. As a result, interventions to its core buildings are rare and carefully consulted with the various stakeholders of the local community in order to strike a good balance of conserving the village typology on one hand but at the same time providing contemporary service facilities.
