J. G. Jabbra Library and R. Nassar Central Administration Building / Atelier Pagnamenta Torriani

The Lebanese American University commissioned Atelier Pagnamenta Torriani to design a new Library and a Central Administration building on its Byblos Campus—above the city of Jbeil (or Byblos), where the Phoenicians codified the world’s first phonetic alphabet. The excavated rock and the bare mountain above the site were my first impressions while visiting the Byblos Campus area. Thus, the exposed sedimentary rock and the complex, stratified history of the region became the main inspiration for APT’s design.

Tesche House / Galeria 733

Tesche House is located in a residential condominium with large lands in the south of Brazil. The owner had bought the land with a small house built on it, which he only used at weekends. His intention was to turn it into a permanent house, which is why he initially requested a renovation project. After evaluating the program, the construction conditions of the house, and the budget, it was decided to demolish it and build a new one, on a different scale and adapted to his real needs.

BIG and Kansas School of Architecture & Design Reveal Mass Timber “Makers’ KUbe” University Campus

BIG, in collaboration with BNIM and the University of Kansas School of Architecture & Design, has revealed a mass timber structure named the “Makers’ KUbe.” Designed for collaborative learning, the structure features a timber diagrid frame. The scheme was developed with students, faculty, and the university’s board of directors to serve as a studio space and an educational showcase for sustainable practices.

Milan Design Week has long been one of the most significant events in the global design sphere, showcasing groundbreaking concepts and visionary talent and fostering critical discourse in the design community. From the expansive trade fair Salone Del Mobile in Rho Fiera to design districts scattered across the city, Design Week brings together diverse voices, perspectives, and talent. According to Salone del Mobile’s press statement, this year’s fair had 17.1% more visitors than in 2023, with a record turnout of 361,417 visitors overall.

TOILETOWA W.C. / Tono Mirai Architects

All existence is born from the earth and is a circle that returns to the earth. TOILETOWA is an architecture of circulation and regeneration that makes this visible. More than just a toilet, it was built as an environmental education space attached to the headquarters of Ishizaka Corp in Oak Forest,  which recycles industrial waste and serves as a model for a future waste-free, recycling-oriented society.
