The renovation of Liangshu Art Museum locates in a historical landscape zone of Nanchang, cohering the Chinese garden and the city. Upon completion, Liangshu Art Museum becomes a public facade of the city, as well as an important context of citizens’ leisure activities. The original building was a tea house of the Bayi Park for years. Although its exterior component suffered different degrees of damages after years of usage and vacancy, you could still easily find its elegant physical temperament from the past.

The Rural of Dabie Mountains / HOMME ARCHITECTS

The Nanwanggang village, under the governance of Xinyang city, has abolished its administrative establishment since the township merging and adjustment many years ago. The entire base consists of two parts – the former courtyard of the township government has fallen into disuse while its adjacent grain reserve depot has been out of service for years. How to re-energize these two neighboring and unoccupied collective assets have thus become the biggest challenge in our design.

Lushan Times / goa

May 10, 2021 Yu Xin Li 0

The site of Lushan Times was launched in 2012 and was decided to be a complex with city-level capacity. It is the climax of GOA’s practices in this district, and also an important link in the construction of the new city. The site has a superior location, with Lushan Mountain at the back and a commanding view of the Fuchun River. On one side of the site is Changqiao Bridge, and on the other side is the cultural highland of the new city represented by the “Three Museums in One” of Fuyang (Wang Shu’s work). From a certain point of view, the building will be the only visible artifact in this landscape. It will represent the urban civilization in a certain attitude, and be integrated into this landscape scroll.

The past and present of Soils A. On the Tang Mountain located in the suburb of Nanjing, with the verdant and foggy surroundings. Ten towering cylindrical grey cement silos are set upright here alone. The absolutely geometrical shapes stand out, which look like a series of big exclamation points, telling the world the past story that the mountain was dissected, the ores were continuously mined, the massif was exposed nakedly and the pit was dug deep, the machines roared in the cement processing plant, powder and smoke rose from all around, and sewage flew everywhere. Later, This place gained its peace again. Ten silos stared at the sky straightly, as if they had been ten-round eyes, waiting for some moment in space-time when fresh new soul was to be injected again.

The epitome of most rural areas in Zhejiang and Jiangsu can be seen here, such as flat terrain, vast paddy fields scattered street shops, and new rural settlements. Some old neighborhoods along the river are small in scale. With the construction of new countryside, traces of development and change in the times have been left to some extent.
