As awareness of sustainable development grows, bamboo is emerging as an attractive alternative to traditional construction materials. This innovative material is making significant inroads in the construction of sports facilities, showcasing how sustainable practices can shape a greener future.
“The House of the 7 Courtyards” is located on a large plot of land, in front of the runway of the Rosario airport and the railway tracks. Both pre-existing elements present a strong horizontality as elements of the environment and it was a decision to enhance them in the project through the visuals, and also, as a starting point for the implementation of the house extended across the width of the lot.
The architectural proposal for the exhibition “the shore, the tide, the current: an oceanic Caribbean” results from the commission that ARCO Madrid Fair gives to architects Ignacio G. Galán, Arantza Ozaeta, and Alvaro M. Fidalgo. The project, covering an area of about 800 m2, materializes the conceptual framework of the curatorial proposal in dialogue with 24 works of art belonging to 19 galleries and includes a forum for events and presentations.
A Trombe wall is a passive solar building feature that enhances thermal efficiency. Positioned on the sun-facing side of a structure, it consists of a wall made from materials like brick, stone, or concrete, and a glass panel or polycarbonate sheet placed a few centimeters in front of it. Solar radiation penetrates the glass during daylight hours and heats the masonry wall. This wall then slowly releases the stored heat into the building during the cooler nighttime hours, maintaining a more consistent indoor temperature without the need for active heating systems.
La Felipa is a 55m² apartment located in a 1960s suburban neighborhood of Madrid. This transformation was approached with two main objectives: to honor and dignify the original character of the property, without pretense or extravagance, and to adapt the spatial layout from the typical compartmentalized arrangement of this era to a hybrid and flexible use that would cater to the needs of its new owner.
The circle is a reference to divinity, humanity, and science. A symbol that brings the image of perfection to our mind.
The project takes place in the building attached to the Museum of Arts. It is a construction with an irregular floor plan, with 2 opposite fronts, made up of a basement, ground floor and three upper floors, which in a previous phase was the result of a significant structural consolidation. Also, the result of a previous phase is a staircase and an elevator that run around the building on the outside, on the north façade.
Urban infrastructure intended for city connectivity disrupts urban patterns and often leaves behind a series of spaces without a properly defined use. Fortunately, the notion of space beneath infrastructure is being redefined, as architects are generating public spaces nestled under flyovers, bridges, and other urban structures.
Escaping from the residential constructions that surround it, the idea of housing arises from the rural landscape near the neighborhood. It is inspired by the farms that dot the landscape on the borders between the city and the countryside, where simple buildings of an industrial or agricultural nature appear.
A house on a slope and among trees. The site is located on the northern shore of a lake in southern Chile and goes from steep hills to the shore of the lake with a significant slope, with several native trees. The assignment started from the point that no trees could be touched and that the house had to be built between them, combining at the same time the view of the volcanoes, the lake and the vegetation.
