The Lantern Apartments / Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter

September 6, 2024 Anna Dumitru 0

The new high-quality housing project in Magasinparken offers innovative apartments sheltered in a new green neighborhood in Ski Vest, Norway. On the site of a former military camp, the residential building bands together with the adjacent historical landscape and built environment of buildings from the 1890s in an attractive and humble manner. Through the conscious use of qualitative and location-oriented architecture, the project reinforces and develops the inherent identity of the site.

According to its owners’ wishes, the SOURCE pavilion is a unique and tailor-made pool house nestled in the heart of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, in the Villa Montmorency neighborhood. This remarkable pavilion discreetly emerges among the Haussmannian residential buildings in a sheltered green area spanning over a thousand square meters. Respecting the site’s balance with nature, the project is strategically positioned in the northwest corner of the plot to allow the living spaces and pergola to open towards the south. This arrangement maximizes the distance from neighboring properties and provides a calming refuge.

Nestled along the serene Takaungu Creek, UA House epitomizes the seamless blend of historical influence and contemporary architectural practices. This 150 square meter limestone villa stands as a testament to sustainable living and thoughtful design, drawing inspiration from the rich Omani heritage that has shaped Coastal Kenya. UA House is thoughtfully organized around a series of landscaped courtyards, creating a harmonious flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. These courtyards not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also serve functional purposes, such as facilitating natural ventilation and providing serene retreats from the tropical sun.

I’m an experiential hospitality developer, designing and building micro-resorts and unique stays. I’m also an artist. The Nook is my most recent—and favorite—project to date. It’s equal parts office, art studio, and guest
quarters.

Old Yacht Club / Elliott Architects

June 10, 2024 Anna Dumitru 0

An abandoned Yacht Club, poised at the edge of the bay, sat derelict for years, all while bearing witness to the relentless coastal climate of Maine.  Built in 1919, it endured a series of interventions after the Club relocated in 1946. This resulted in the removal of much of the interior fabric and all that remained intact was the original Club Room.  It would require the right temperament and commitment to restore its historical memory while modernizing the early 20th-century structure.

CPFB Education Center / archipelago

Originally the post office of Louvain-la-Neuve, the characteristic building housed several teaching courses for the University of Louvain until its final occupation as a ‘school for sound’. Overcompartmentalized and acoustically insulated to meet recording standards, the clarity of the architecture and the simplicity of its materials were lost.

Brewhouse Apartments / JEMS

June 4, 2024 Anna Dumitru 0

From a historic brewery to an apartment building with a dynamic copper facade. Brewhouse Apartments is a symbol of the transformation of a city quarter in the very heart of Warsaw. The building grew to become a dominant element of the new, city-forming project – Warsaw Breweries. It stands out with its facade, which is made of mobile shutter panels in a copper color. These panels allow the facade to change its form, which in turn, makes the entire building feel more alive. It was designed by the Warsaw JEMS Architects studio.
