The project begins with the perception of the place. More than just looking exclusively at the pre-existing building, it was important to look at the broader context, its potentialities, constraints, and the relationships established within it. These relationships support the inherent idea of the project. Located in Nandufe (Tondela), the house inspires itself from this place of traditions with history, translating them into new spatial and constructive approaches. It shapes itself with sobriety, flexibility, and balance to a contemporary lifestyle. Functionality merges with aesthetics, art, and natural elements. The house sustains the surrounding terrain, nestled in a small plot adjacent to the street, a public space that relates in a hybrid way to the private interior space. It alternates between closure and openness in a gradual and controlled transition.

In a corner of Changning District, Shanghai, several old roads encircle the former residence of Li Hongzhang’s mother, where the surge of urbanization collides with the suburban texture of the former concessions from the first half of the 20th century. Like the front where fresh water meets sea water at the confluence of a great river entering the ocean, modern-style old houses stand side by side with high-rises of various generations, displaying a rich and towering cross-section of urban landscape. Fragments of history mingle with bits of everyday life, presenting a complex and mixed daily scenery.

Established in 2022, Tanulo Coffee follows the urban development of the Mekar Wangi area of Bandung. This project is located in a residential area with multi-story rental houses and a pocketed plot of land, which has an area of ​​around 560m2. The two main buildings created with the main function of a bar and meeting room are placed in the back area with the aim of providing visitors with experiences while walking to the building, which passes the seating area and also the complementary garden.
