April 18, 2024 Pilar Caballero 0

Nestled on the seventh floor of a 1970s building in Takaido, Tokyo, an ordinary 3LDK apartment underwent a renovation designed by Roovice while guided by the creative vision of the owners, David Buchler and Koichi Tanabe. Upon our first contact, David and Koichi had already started their renovation journey while living in the apartment, driven by a clear vision of their dream home. With three balconies and abundant natural light, they envisioned an open, airy environment that maximized the apartment’s potential. Their love for the color blue set the tone for the design, with striking blue PVC tiles flooring leading the way from the entrance into the kitchen and dining area.

The demand for youthful services in red tourist attractions. The project is located at the foot of Tianhua Mountain Scenic Area in Qingshanpu Town, Changsha County, Hunan Province. The scenic area is a 4A-level red tourist attraction, but the current supporting facilities are not perfect and lack attractiveness to young people. Therefore, the town government approached us, hoping that we could come up with a low-cost and attractive coffee and book shop plan that can attract young people to check in; On the other hand, because the project is located in the core area of the red scenic area, the appearance of the project must be coordinated and consistent with the local residences, which poses a core challenge for the design: how to balance the traditional style requirements of the “red” scenic area while also meeting the “internet celebrity” needs of young people? Simultaneously solving all buildings, interiors, soft furnishings, and landscapes within a cost of several hundred thousand yuan?

In the city center of Pantin near Paris, a 1935 building has been ingeniously converted into a specialty coffee shop and roastery by the Italian-Mexican architectural design firm Office Abrami Rojas. The architects, fond of existing buildings with a story to tell, saw an opportunity to build a unique interior design that would honor the original construction. «After exposing the walls and the supporting structure, we discovered and enhanced the magnificent reinforced concrete and glass domes, which were hidden until then by insulating panels.»

Kiddy Kitty Court House is an alteration and additions project to an arts and crafts cottage in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne. The owners, AFL player Ben Brown and marriage celebrant Hester Brown, came to us as excited parents-to-be. They loved their charming 2-bedroom cottage in Moonee Ponds but recognized it would not meet the demands of a growing family. Their brief was to create a family home that was light, bright, and joyous to accommodate their future kiddy, two kitties, and their busy, sport-loving lives.

Power Workshop / Benzhe Design

The Power Workshop is located in the EKA Art District in Jinqiao, Pudong New Area, Shanghai. It was originally the equipment and power workshop, Building 462, China Shipbuilding Naval Instrumentation Factory (CSNIF) in the 1950s and 1960s. Commissioned by the owner, we carried out the overall planning and renovation design of the area. In the renewal and revitalization of the building as the core of the park, it’s necessary not only to respect the history and preserve the original cultural memory as much as possible, but also to meet the needs of contemporary business, lifestyle, and other multi-functional business, which means that new vitality was to be injected into the old building, and a dialogue that transcends time and space was to be initiated.
