Origin and evolution
At the beginning of 2017, Mr. Wu Zhixuan, who has been focusing on the restoration and utilization of Huizhou ancient houses in Wuyuan, found our design team, hoping to jointly build a homestay with the theme of Hui ink culture. The design team accepted the task, and tried to work with the owner to explore the way of restoration, reconstruction and utilization of ancient residential buildings in a specific cultural background, in line with the needs of the contemporary. The ideal is perfect, yet the reality cruel. After nearly three years of on and off work stoppages, the project is finally preliminarily completed in December 2019.

January 18, 2020 舒岳康 - SHU Yuekang 0

PROJECT STATEMENT
The KAISA WEWA SPACE Shanghai Jiaotong Road Project was originally a large abandoned hotel. Dilapidated for years, the hotel still has distinct characters for its naturally-lighting atrium indoors and extensive greening outdoors. In the design process, we come up with the concept of “Urban Renewal Complex” based on the multidisciplinary research and consideration of young people’s cultural taste and lifestyle at the internet era. Similar to mixed use project, the “Urban Renewal Complex” not only integrates the interior and exterior, but also creates interaction between rental apartment, co-working space and community retail, therefore stresses on overall experience, funky activities and sense of community.

Cine Sky Cinema / One Plus Partnership

January 14, 2020 舒岳康 - SHU Yuekang 0

When designing this cinema in Longhua, Shenzhen, the designers recreate a virtual world of architecture – showing us a combination of real life and virtual elements. The designers use vertical and horizontal lines to build up their design concept in mind. One can see a variety of lines scattered around the cinema. When one looks at the interior of the design, it’s as if the designers are using the design and drafting software application, the Autocad 3D to draw simple grid lines one by one until the draft of the design is completed. To reflect this concept in reality, the designers use horizontal and vertical lines as their main stroke, as if turning the virtual design into a reality. The designers hope to create a real-life scene in a virtual world – just like the virtual world in the movies, creating buildings one by one. The designers combine the illusory world of the film with the cinema design, supporting the theme of the entire design with vertical and horizontal grid lines, illustrating the wonderful connection between reality and illusion.
